The inside of Pardy House is really starting to take shape these days with paint colours finally going on in numerous rooms.
Our plan always was to have a cozy cottage feel to our home so most paints selected evoke a warm and traditional feeling. Pale green in the Master bedroom, and Vanilla Cream in the Guest bedroom both match the feel of the home and will complement the furniture perfectly since almost all pieces are in shades of cream, white and pale pastel shades of green, yellow, pink, and blue.
An exception to our paint theme can be found in one of our bathrooms, Laundry room and my office where pale blue-grey was used for a clean and modern touch within a very traditional setting. In these rooms the classic 1920’s theme of black, white, silver and grey can be found. These choices add a touch of modern masculinity to rooms where guests, and ourselves, can see that we are not living in a house museum, though I would love to do so some times.
Looking at what has been painted so far, what do you guys think of our selections? Many wonder about the choices when either of us describes them since it sounds like the paint selection of an older, more traditional person, but you have to remember that almost any colour can look great in the right setting and our setting will be somewhat unique.
This is not the home for dark shades and colours that are popular these days like browns, rich burgundies and gold. This property, with its smaller rooms and heritage feel screamed for an airy and playful feel that simply says come in and relax…….you're on vacation in the English country side. In a few more weeks we will see, with all rooms painted, if we made the right choice for this special property, our little jewelry box of a house as some say.
