Welcome to Pardy House

Feeling Blue?

Published on October 10, 2012

The Blue Hall

The painting is DONE!!!!!!  The last section of Pardy House to have been painted is our hallway, both the first and second floors.  The original plan for this space was French chic, elegant shades of rich brown, pale blue and crisp white, mirroring the colours of traditional French and English china.  That clean blue and white plan for our hall has come to fruition now.

We love Wedgewood china and the famous pale blue and snow white of those Jasper pottery collections have been selected as décor colours for centuries in both Europe and North America.  To add a modern touch to this hallway space we added very traditional carriage house lights with clear glass shades but finished in clean and modern chrome.  This finish is highly reflective and complements blue and white very well.

As you can see by the photos, the plan in my opinion has worked well and Leann agrees completely.  When she dropped into the house last week to see how things were going she was pleasantly surprised how well the blue turned out.  We were both apprehensive with pale blues at one moment or another before painting began simply because too much pale or powdery blue was a dated, 1980's colour.  Well we proved them wrong and dissolved any minor doubts we have had.

One we start placing our art, with their traditional frames in modern tones of silver, on these blue walls I think it will set the whole space off!  Just stay tuned to find out how it all comes together over the next few weeks as we continue to add the finishing touches to our home.
