RCMP report one fatality in collision near Clarenville

RCMP in Clarenville have confirmed the two vehicle collision between a sedan and a tractor trailer has resulted in the death of a female passenger in the car.

Both the driver of the car and the tractor trailer have been taken to local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

At this time RCMP are not releasing any information on any of the individuals involved. Traffic Services officers are also on scene.

Traffic on the Trans-Canada Highway remains open, with Manitoba Drive traffic being diverted to Memorial Drive for those needing access to the TCH.

Police also report the speed limit in the area of the accident will be reduced to 50 km/h with temporary signs going in place shortly. Investigators expect to be in the area for up to four hours.

Clarenville RCMP are reporting a multiple-vehicle collision involving a tractor-trailer at the west intersection into the community on the Trans-Canada Highway.  

Ambulance and fire crews have been dispatched.  

There is no information on any injuries at this time.  

Traffic on the TCH is open but police are asking the public to slow down going through the area.

Access to the TCH is being rerouted to Memorial Drive. 

Clarenville RCMP will provide further details as they become available.
