A section of the Trans Canada Highway at Deep Bight was closed to traffic for a short time yesterday as water bombers fought a blaze in a wooded area close to the TCH. It was the first reported forest fire of the season. With temperatures soaring to 29 degrees, hotter than any day last summer, the forest fire risk jumped from normal to high. There is no official report yet on the cause or extent of damage caused by the fire.
