The Bill Davis Chalet at the Elizabeth Swan Park on Tilley’s Road was broken into overnight.

Thieves made off with 13 dozen-beer products and a case of soft drinks belonging to the Clarenville Men’s Slo-pitch League. League representative Scott Maidment told the Packet he locked up the chalet Monday evening around 7:30 p.m. following the conclusion of the annual Labour Day slo-pitch tournament.

The break-in was discovered just after 7:30 a.m. this morning by workers that use the chalet as a base to carry out upgrades to the Rotary Trail.

Also taken was an ATV owned by the town.

Thieves gained access to the building by breaking in a door on the ground level. The ATV appears to have been driven through another ground level door. Clarenville RCMP has the matter under investigation.

This happens EVERY year after EVERY long weekend when there is a slow pitch tournament.. thieves know full well there is beer left at the chalet... so perhaps a new rule should be put in place... NO BEER TO BE LEFT BEHIND... This isn't rocket science.. as long as thieves known beer (power tools, etc) is there to take.. they will continue to break in ..
