More than 700 students, teachers, host committee members, government officials and spectators packed into the Clarenville Middle School gymnasium on Monday for the official unveiling of the 2014 Newfoundland and Labrador Winter Games logo.
It was an aptly fitting venue for the launch. The gymnasium is the legacy of the first provincial games hosted by Clarenville in 1994.
“Our logo conveys the excitement and energy that is building for the games and marks another milestone in our preparations,” said Greg Pittman, chair of the host committee.
A slogan for the games is the next item on the host committee’s agenda.
“We are encouraging students to submit an entry into our slogan contest; four words or less to convey the spirit of the games.”
Students have until Oct. 1 to send their slogan to clarenville2014@gmail.com. Prizes will be awarded.
