It's the last chance this year to get your cod fish.
The fall 2012 recreational groundfish fishery in Newfoundland and Labrador opens Saturday, Sept. 22, and runs until Sunday, Sept. 30.
Fishing is permitted in all zones around the province, except for the Eastport and Gilbert Bay Marine Protected Areas (MPA).
The Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) in a press release today reminds that the rules for fishing are the same as in 2011. There's a daily bag limit of five groundfish per day (including cod) and a maximum boat limit
of 15 fish when three or more people are fishing. This includes tour
boats.
People are reminded to return to DFO any tags and recapture
information. The address and reward value are printed on the tag.
