The Eastern Schools District released its 2011-2016 plan on Thursday, which included recommendations that both Swift Current Academy and Catalina Elementary be closed by June, 2013.

The report recommends students from Swift Current Academy be bussed to schools in Clarenville, while students of Catalina Elementary attend school in Bonavista.

Individuals or school councils who wish to make a presentation in response to these recommendations are requested to schedule an appointment by contacting Maureen Sheppard at 709-758-2381 or by email at maureensheppard@esdl.ca. The deadline to make an appointment is Oct. 12.

Public hearings will then be held on Monday, Oct. 22 at Catalina Elementary School and Tuesday, Oct. 23 at Swift Current Academy. Both hearings will begin at 6:30 p.m.
