The 20th annual Vista Regional Drama Festival wrapped up Friday night with the presentation of awards at the Rising Tide Theatre in Trinity.
Eleven of 12 eligible schools in the Vista Region participated, including Tricentia, Swift Current, Southwest Arm Academy, Clarenville Middle School, Clarenville High School, Random Island Academy, Heritage Collegiate, St. Mark’s, bishop White, Matthew Elementary and Discovery Collegiate.
As well as performances, several workshops were held throughout the week.
Discovery Collegiate walked away with the Best Production. Their play was ‘The Road Less Travelled.’ Discovery Collegiate teacher Tony Ryan wrote the winning entry.
Also presented during the awards ceremonies on Friday night was the ‘Rising Tide Special Award. This award is presented in memory of Jeffrey Johnson and goes to an up-and-coming actor that stands out among the others. This year’s award went to Gavin Butt from Random Island.

As the overall winner at the regional drama festival Discovery Collegiate will advance to the Provincial Drama Festival May 10-13 in Grand Falls-Windsor.
