MacRae is a six foot two inch, 205 pound power forward who will be an offensive presence on the Bous’ front line this upcoming season.
Caribous manager Derek MacPhee says MacRae is an exciting addition.
“Clarenville, like any team is looking, for offensive skill and we certainly are jam-packed with that now,” he said. “When you can get a fellow with exceptional skill and ability, you want to take that opportunity when it exists.”
MacPhee describes MacRae as having great size, skill and speed, all the attributes they look for in a player.
Last season, the Sydney, Nova Scotia native played in Denmark, however, he made his mark in the QMJHL playing with the Quebec Remparts, Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and Halifax Mooseheads. His best season in the major junior league, he put up 94 points in 72 games in 2001-02.
MacRae also played four seasons with St. Francis Xavier University where he had great success. He roomed with Caribous captain Dustin Russell and went on to play with forward Ryan Desrosiers and former Caribou Chris Hulit.
The highly skilled player is world traveled, playing across the United States and even in Wales.
MacRae will be one of Clarenville’s allotted import skaters for the season, joining Martin Lapointe and Desrosiers on the team roster.
