Clarenville Middle School shaves for Darian

Published on April 7, 2017

CLARENVILLE - In what can only be called a miraculous coincidence, Clarenville Middle School’s Shave for the Brave event this year fell on April 7 – Darian Hunt's birthday.

Darian is a student at the school, and a member of the Clarenville Caribous peewee hockey team.

And in November of 2016, he was diagnosed with leukemia.

At today's Shave for the Brave event, three of Darian's fellow team members, Lucas Jefford, Tyler Wiseman and Mark Boutcher, shaved their hair for their friend.

Jada Webster, assistant principal Paul Power and principal Glen Moulton also shaved for the brave.

Ryan Curry, a student at Clarenville Middle, did not sign up for the event, but offered to have his hair shaved off if $50 could be raised on the spot.

 Within minutes $155 was collected.

A total of $4,700 was raised with donations continuing to come in as the event closed off.
