Champney’s West filled with fun at annual festival

Published on August 7, 2017

Champney’s West celebrated their annual holiday this past weekend as they usually do — with plenty of fun-filled events with colourful characters.

Each year the cardboard boat race is one of the main attractions in the Trinity Bight community, drawing big crowds to see if the many homemade vessels are seaworthy.

In addition to typical festival fare, like bouncy castles and barbecue, another unusual tradition at Champney’s West Days is watching the “Island Girls” walk the plank.

The men in drag are auctioned as a fundraiser before diving into the drink for the crowd’s amusement.
