Blizzard shuts down schools, businesses
A major storm system has shut down most of Eastern Newfoundland today. All schools in the Vista school district are closed for the day due to the blizzard.
Other businesses and offices are also closed due to the weather.

Update: Break-in at Random Square Mall
RCMP in Clarenville are currently investigating a break and enter that occured in the early morning hours of Feb. 4 at Random Square Mall, Manitoba Drive.
The suspect or suspects entered the shopping mall, then entered several businesses inside, stealing money and other items.

A grand opening 3
Capacity crowd on hand for ceremony
It might have been the ceremony, or it could have been the Caribous last home game against the Grand Falls Cataracts, but in any case there was a capacity crowd at the Clarenville Events Centre on Saturday night.
The special occasion was the Grand Opening of the Events Centre.
Although the facility has been in operation since the Caribous first home game on Oct. 30, the pomp and circumstance to mark the milestone didn't go ahead until last weekend. (more)

Picking our brains
Pre-budget consultations make stops in Clarenville, Bonavista
The pre-budget consultation in Clarenville last week was brief. Just three people made presentations to Finance Minister Tom Marshall during his stop in Clarenville. Marshall is meeting face-to-face with municipal politicians and community leaders in a series of pre-budget consultations across the province.
"It gives me a chance to pick your brains," said Marshall to the seven people who turned out for the session. (more)
