RCMP arrest and charge Bunyan's Cove man with theft

A Bunyan's Cove man has been charged with 12 offences, including several counts of theft under $5,000.

In a press release issued late tonight, the RCMP said arrest of 33 year old Mitchell Clouter came about from a sequence of events this week.

On Tuesday, Feb. 9, Clarenville RCMP responded to a report of a theft in Musgravetown, Subsequent investigation identified a suspect in the theft.

On Feb. 11, the suspect reported to the RCMP Detachment in Clarenville, as required from a previous court ordered condition.

The suspect was found to be operating an unregistered and uninsured vehicle which lead to the man's arrest. Police say that inside the vehicle they located several items that had been reported from businesses in Clarenville.

Clouter appeared in Clarenville Provincial Court in Clarenville on Friday and remains in custody.

RCMP say the affected businesses have been contacted and the investigation continues.
