GLOVERTOWN- How's this for an awesome summer job?
It's been quiet on the polar bear front in Newfoundland in recent weeks. Today, however, a polar bear was spotted near White Hills Academy in St. Anthony. Tracey Hynes took this photo of a polar bear near St. Brendan's earlier this spring.

A polar bear was spotted near White Hills Academy in St. Anthony this morning.
The wildlife office received a call around 11:30 a.m. that a polar bear was in the area.
As of 1:15 p.m., the school was under secure status.
Cpl. Shane Clarke of the RCMP confirmed with the Northern Pen that the polar bear had been sighted behind the school and later made its way over to Goose Cove Road.
At 1 p.m., the RCMP was monitoring traffic on Goose Cove Road in order to allow the polar bear to cross the road.
At that time, the polar bear was no longer visible from the highway.
More information to come.
