Glovertown native eyeing World Powerlifting Competition
GLOVERTOWN, NL — Glovertown native Adrian Locke is making a name for himself in the sport of powerlifting, competing at national, international and world events.
Gander, N.L. – A major street hockey festival is expected to attract over 60 teams and 350 players from central Newfoundland to Gander next month.
Blizzard Sports and Entertainment announced the launch today of Street Jam Gander in conjunction with the Gander Minor Hockey Association (GMHA).
The event, which will take place June 2-4, will serve as a fundraising initiative for the association.
The tournament will be played on the parking lot of the Gander Community Centre. There will be separate male and female divisions from the initiation program level all the way up to midget-aged players.
“A street hockey tournament makes perfect sense as a fundraiser for the GMHA as it provides a unique opportunity to engage with our players, coaches and volunteers in a fun festival environment,” stated GMHA president Michelle Parsons.
A number of corporate partners have signed on to sponsor the event, including the Town of Gander.
Registration is currently open online at www.streetjam.ca and will run until midnight on May 28.
Other Street Jam events are taking place in Corner Brook and St. John’s in June.
