Male team places second at Winterton Invitational

WINTERTON, N.L. — The Clarenville Caribous U14 male competitive team travelled to Winterton on Sunday, Aug. 5, to participate in an invitational tournament, hosted by the Winterton Softball Association.

The tournament included teams from Winterton, Whiteway, Clarenville, two from Butlerville, and Marystown.

Caribous were undefeated in their division and played a nail-biting crossover semifinal game against Marystown to take the win.

This put them in the finals against the Butlerville 2 team, which had been undefeated in Division 2.

Unfortunately, the Caribous fell short in the championship game with a final score of 6-4.

The Winterton tournament was a great warm up tournament for this weekend when Clarenville hostes the Softball NL U14 Slowpitch Provincials.

Home town fans are encouraged to come out to cheer on the team and watch some great softball.
