Katarina Roxon isn’t feeling any pain.

That’s not good for those who are trying to keep her off the podium at the Para Pan Pacific Swim Championships in Cairns, Australia.

The 25-year-old Kippens native, a tough cookie who has battled neck and back injuries all season, won the gold medal in the 100-m breaststroke in Cairns Thursday morning.

Roxon, one of the top para swimmers in the world, posted a final clocking of 1:25.86 to nab gold in her first event in a showcase event that will determine who swims for Team Canada at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

Roxon will hit the water for the 100-m freestyle event today and the 200-m Individual Medley and 4x100 medley relay on Saturday. Her final event, scheduled for Sunday in Cairns, will see her compete in the 4x100m freestyle relay.
