CLARENVILLE, N.L. — The annual ALS Walk was this past Sunday, June 10, in Clarenville helped raise funds for the ALS Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Organized by Cal Cole, who lost his wife Pat to ALS, the walk is an annual event which recognizes and joins in the fight against ALS.
Running concurrently with other walks across the province and country, the local version raised about $16,000-17,000 again this year through its efforts.
Cole told The Packet about 60 per cent of the funds go towards helping patients and families dealing with ALS within the province, while 40 per cent goes towards research.
