Clarenville Power to Hope 5K a success

Annual event raises over $16,000 for cancer charity

CLARENVILLE, N.L.— The Power to Hope fifth’s annual five-kilometre run/walk, a charity event with all funds raised going directly to Young Adults Cancer Canada (YACC), has raised just over $16,000, with some donations still coming in.

The 264 participants started at Riverside Elementary, proceeded out Thomas Place to Huntley Drive, turned onto Taverner Place, looped back around to Hunter Drive, turned onto Harbour Drive and looped around the harbor back to the school.

Roughly 50 volunteers came together to guide runners, help with set up, and serve a pancake breakfast, provided by Clarenville McDonalds.

SubC Imaging raised $5,000 in donations, and Clarenville Hickman Nissan raised $2,880.
