BONAVISTA, N.L. —

Canadian Blood Services will have an extra special mobile blood donor in Bonavista on June 5 to honour a local mother and daughter and celebrate a long-time volunteer.

Lori Gallant and her daughter Keelyn suffer from platelet coagulation disorder and have required blood transfusions. They will be at the event to personally thank donors for giving the gift of life.

Frances Sweetland is marking 69 years as a volunteer with Canada’s blood system (20 years with Canadian Blood Services) and will be presented with a gift.

Currently, the Bonavista clinic is in need of more donors, with only 28 per cent of appointments filled as of Wednesday, May 22. The June 5 clinic runs from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Discovery Collegiate.
