A 31-year-old man from the area of Upper Island Cove has been charged with aggravated assault after a stabbing incident.
The incident, in which a man was alleged to have been stabbed by another man at a Upper Island Cove residence, happened Thursday, Bay Roberts and Harbour Grace RCMP said in a news release Friday.
The accused was held in custody pending a court appearance at Harbour Grace Provincial Court late Friday.
The victim of the stabbing was treated and released, police said.
The RCMP noted residents in the area can expect an increased police presence in the coming days as the investigation continues.
