Suzanne Collins’ new Hunger Games book will be published next year

For fans waiting for more stories from the Hunger Games universe, the odds are certainly in their favor after a fifth novel and new movie were announced by publisher Scholastic and Lionsgate Film on Thursday.

The new installment of author Suzanne Collins’ hugely popular series is titled “Sunrise over Harvest” and is set to release on March 18 next year. The book is set 24 years prior to the original trilogy in the fictional country of Panem, during the 50th Hunger Games, known as the second-quarter Quell.

Collins said in a statement that his recent work is “immersed in the use of propaganda and the power of those who control the narrative,” adding, “The question of truth or not seems more pressing to me every day.”

The winner of the “second quarter” is Haymitch Abernathy, the advisor to Katniss and her teammate Peeta in the books. He starred in films by Woody Harrelson. After Haymitch wins the tournament, President Snow kills his family, driving him into alcoholism.
